OpenAthens

""

OpenAthens is a secure password system used to access the majority of online resources purchased by ESNEFT Libraries and also those provided nationally via NHS England (NHSE).

  • All ESNEFT staff and students on placement at ESNEFT are entitled to register for an NHS OpenAthens account.
  • Registration is free, and accounts last 2 years for permanent staff and for the duration of the contract or placement for temporary staff and students.
  • Read our Microsoft Sway guide (below) to learn more or visit the resources section of our website.

To register please click the 'OpenAthens Registration Form' link below and complete the form.

  • It is best to register from an ESNEFT computer as your application will be approved immediately.
  • You can also register at either of our sites via our reference pads.
  • An ESNEFT email address is preferred. Students can use their academic address.
  • If you register from an off-site computer it may take a few days for your application to be approved.
  • Start typing "East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust" in the Organisation box - it should then appear for you to select.
  • Once set up, you can use your NHS OpenAthens account to access resources both on and off site. Visit our A-Z Resources list to find out what resources you can access.
  • If you need help completing the form, please watch the video below.

If you have forgotten your OpenAthens password, you can request a password reset to the email your account is associated with, via the link below.

If you are transferring to ESNEFT from another Trust you may already have an OpenAthens account. If so, it is important you transfer it to ESNEFT in order to gain access to local resources. Just login to your OpenAthens account and select "change organisation." If your previous account has expired you will need to register again.

If you need help with any aspect of your Athens account, please esneftlibrary@esneft.nhs.uk
