Introduction to Document Requests 📤

 Need help with sourcing a book, article reading list? 

• The library is here to support and develop your knowledge and access to information.  A major part of our service is helping you to request the books and articles you need to support your work and study.  
• This page is aimed at helping you find out how to place requests on books and articles yourself as well as how to ask for our help.

How to Request a Book 📖

If you can't find or not sure if we have the book you need, we may be able to find it through our inter-library loan network.  This service is available to all ESNEFT library members. 

Request a book via our library catalogue:

1. Log in with your library card number and password.  You can find out how to reset your password on our borrowing books page. 
2. Click on 'Your Interlibrary Loans'  from the menu on the left hand side.
3. Then click on 'Create New Request' and agree to the copyright declaration.  This then gives you a variety of options to choose from e.g. request books, articles, and recommend items for purchase.
4. Fill out the required details e.g. book title, author, ISBN number etc.

Once you complete the request form, a member of the library team will then try and fulfil your request.  You can check on the status of request by logging into your library account and clicking on 'Your Interlibrary Loans"

Need help with your reading list?

• All you have to do is send us a copy of your reading list and a member of the library team will then take a look  and see how many books we can obtain for you.  Send your reading list to:

How to Request an Article 📰

We understand the frustration of finding an article you want to read only to continually click on it and not be able to access it.  That is where the Library comes in. 

If we don't have access to the journal article you need or you are struggling to access, we may be able to find this through our inter-library loan network.  This service is available to all library members and is free. You have a couple of options when it comes to making article requests. 

 Request via our library catalogue:

1. Log in with your library card number and password.  You can find out how to reset your password on our borrowing books page.

We try and complete article requests within 1-2 working days.  

Search and Request via the NHS Library Hub

1. Log into the hub with your NHS OpenAthens account.  Visit our OpenAthens page for more information. 
2. Use the search bar to search for your article or topic. 
3. When you find an article you wish to read, if we have access to it, button to a full-text version will be visible.
4. If we don't have access, a 'Request this Item' button will be visible.  Click this button.
5. A pre-populated form will appear, all you need to do is fill in your detail's and press submit. 
6. The request will be sent to us and we will look into it for you.  We aim to complete requests within 1-2 working days.  We will contact you if unable to supply.

How to Request Other Documents 📄

There maybe times you need to get hold of documents which are not books or articles.  While we may not be able to supply you with all other types of documents, we can try our best to find out the best route of getting hold of these documents. 

What other documents can I request?

• We may also be able to help you with other getting hold of other documents, such as guidelines, policy documents etc.  
• If we can't supply other documents outright, we can usually sign-post you to useful resources and other sources of information 
• If you need help with document requests which are not books or journal articles please email us directly and we can look at your query
